Lincoln Artists' Guild General Meeting, Nov. 1, 7:00 P.M.
Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege St., Lincoln

Megan Moffett will be giving a watercolor demo and display oils and ink artworks at our November 1st LAG general meeting.  She’s hoping that people be prepared with questions so that there will be a nice group discussion.

This is her artists’ statement:

Born and raised in Colorado, Megan's understanding of artistic beauty flourished with her experiences of going to art shows and galleries with her parents. Megan has always had a passion for art. Growing up, she spent a great deal of time with her professional sculptor father and highly creative and poetic mother comparing their views in artwork.

Megan attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed a BS in Education.  Megan painted off and on in college, but it wasn't until her late twenties that she decided to pursue painting more fervently.  Megan's bold brush strokes of intense color are the artist's trademark.  She uses a variety of colors, shapes and textures with great enthusiasm.  Her paintings appear in an uncontrived composition and are explorations of color and her own interpretation of the subject matter.  Megan has taken a page out of the book on abstract expressionism and combined that with her unique rendition of animals and birds from nature.  Abstraction and reality along with an uncanny ability to intuitively understand color and color theory combined with wonderfully textured surfaces make her work powerfully individual and distinctive.  It is a style that eloquently speaks of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Megan currently resides in Omaha, Nebraska. She has a small art studio in her home. Her work is displayed at  the Passageway Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska, The Noyes Art Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Michael's on Main Gallery in Sarasota, Florida.
